A ‘Rath Yatra’ will be organised by Bharatiya Janata Party across Tripura from the first of January to gear up for the upcoming polls of the 60-member Tripura Assembly.
On Monday, Tripura BJP media in-charge Sunit Sarkar said that a team has been appointed to oversee preparations for the yatra.
Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury would head the three-member committee.
Sunit Sarkar added that one yatra will set out from North Tripura district and another from South Tripura district.
State BJP’s chief spokesperson, Subarta Chakraborty said that the aim of the yatra is to seek the blessings of people for the upcoming polls.
He added that BJP believes people of Tripura will join the ‘rath yatra’ to show solidarity towards the party as it has addressed their basic needs.
