AMC held meeting for developmental works in Agartala

There was a time when the AMC used to act as a titular local self-governance body mostly controlled and managed by the then ruling party CPIM.

The actual governing powers of this body were vested in the hands of local CPIM cadres. Wards then were left to be looked poorly managed and in broken conditions.

Moreover, public issues were then to a large extent get supressed by the local comrades showing their red eyes, attacks.

But talking about today, people say that everything has changed. The experts believe that after conquering the fort of AMC in this year local body poll, BJP has constituted the strongest ever Corporation Governing Body for this city.

On Thursday, the newly constituted body of the AMC officially started the tenure after meeting with all the officials, policy makers working under the AMC.

The New Mayor, Dipak Majumder along with Dy. Mayor Monika Das Dutta chaired the entire meeting inspecting the work order systems, service strength and functions of the corporation.

The AMC Commissioner, Shailesh Kumar Yadav also shared the records of the pending works undertaking and ongoing to the Mayor.

In the first meeting of the Corporation, various pending issues including beautification of the capital city, planning, reconstruction and cleanliness have been emphasized.

While speaking to the media, Mayor Dipak Majumder said that after this landslide victory of his party; people’s expectation is now very much high on them. “We will shortly start massive reconstruction and drills in the entire city to bring back its previous beauty and heritage which had been destroyed by the anarchist CPIM during their tenure. We are committed to our job; with full support and cooperation from everyone we will surely make Agartala, a great capital again” said the Mayor at the end of his introductory speech.
