Amidst tight security arrangements Voting of local body polls in Tripura today

Elections for more than 200 seats in the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and other municipal bodies will be held today.

Voters will decide the fate of 785 candidates as they will exercise their franchise amidst tight security arrangements in Tripura.

Finally it’s the day of the much awaited Tripura Municipal Polls 2021. Especially, there are in total 201 candidates contesting in this year AMC poll from the different wards different zones.

Among them 51 candidates are from the BJP, 3 from CPI, 40 candidates from CPIM, 33 INC candidates, 1 AIFB candidate, 4 from Amra Bangali, 2 RSP candidates,
5 from the SUCI and 51 are from the TMC. Also, 11 candidates are contesting individually in this year corporation poll.

This year, there are total 439 poll centers for the AMC poll. Recently, two rounds of ballot drill has been accomplished among the election duty staffs. Three observers and 54 sector officers have been appointed for this AMC poll of 2021.

However, 2,525 voting staffs are there for the same job. This year, total voters for the AMC Poll are 3 lakhs 45 thousand and 239. Among them there are 1 lakh 70 thousand male voters, 1 lakh 74 thousand female voters and 14 transgender voters.

The voting process among the voting staffs and poll in-charges already have been finished at the Umakanta Academy in 19th and 20th of this month.

The Sadar SDM has shared all this information with media yesterday. Last but not the least, the Law and Education Minister, Ratan Lal Nath has also requested the common voters to participate in this mega festival of vote with a celebratory mood.
