Amit Shah To Visit Tripura In May To Review Bru Resettlement Programme

According to a senior official, it is anticipated that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will travel to Tripura in May to evaluate the rehabilitation process of Brus in the state.

On Thursday, Gomati District Magistrate Govekar Mayur Ratilal said, “After signing a landmark agreement, a total of 37,136 Brus who had fled Mizoram due to ethnic conflicts in 1997 were resettled in Tripura. The majority of the refugees have been rehabilitated to 12 specific locations.”

He added, “Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to visit the Bru rehabilitation areas in Karbook and Amarpur subdivisions of Gomati district on May 8th to assess the progress of the program.

The necessary arrangements are being made for this high-profile visit.”

According to officials, Chief Minister Manik Saha, who met with Amit Shah in Delhi on Wednesday, is likely to visit Paschim Kalajari and Silacherri to oversee the arrangements prior to the visit.
