Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s flight could not land at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala on Wednesday night due to poor visibility caused by fog.
The flight was later diverted to Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
He was scheduled to arrive at Agartala on Wednesday night and the next day, flag off two rath yatras.
Tripura BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee said that the Rath Yatra will continue till January 12 and will be concluded by the party’s national president JP Nadda.
He added that leaders like Himanta Biswa Sarma, Locket Chatterjee, Sarbananda Sonowal, Subhendu Adhikari, Mithun Chakraborty, Kiren Rijuju and many other leaders will come during the poll campaign.
