Anganwadi Centres shall remain closed due to heat weave in Tripura

The state government has decided to close the Anganwadi centers from April 19 to April 23 due to the severe outbreak across the state.

The Department of Social Welfare and Social Education has informed that this decision has been taken considering the health of children, pregnant women and lactating mothers.

The department informed that food items will be delivered to the beneficiaries’ homes instead of cooked meals so that the children do not lack nutrition during the closure days.

This includes children from 6 months to 6 years, pregnant women. Beneficiaries need not visit Anganwadi Centres.

Heatwaves can be dangerous, especially for young children who may be more susceptible to heat-related illnesses such as dehydration and heat stroke. It is important to take measures to protect children from the effects of high temperatures, such as ensuring they stay hydrated, keeping them in cool and shaded areas, and avoiding outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day.
