A vehicle carrying a significant amount of ganja was apprehended at the Churaibari checkpoint at approximately 6 AM on a Sunday morning while crossing from Tripura into Assam.

Surprisingly, a Bharat Petroleum oil tanker was involved in this smuggling incident.
During inspection of the ten-wheeler Bharat Petroleum Tanker with registration number NL 01 AG-5508 arriving from Agartala at the Assam Churaibari Police Naka Point, the police discovered a substantial quantity of dried ganja hidden inside the tank.

Approximately 1,420 kilograms of ganja packed in 71 packets were confiscated, which has an estimated black market value of Rs 1 crore and 42 lakh.

The vehicle driver, Mithun Sarkar, a resident of Teliamura was also apprehended.
Initially, he denied any involvement in the illegal activity. However, later admitted that the ganja was intended to be transported from Agartala to Bihar.
