The Trinamool Congress has lodged a complaint at Tripura police headquarters in Agartala with the Director-General of Police on Wednesday.
A five-member delegation of All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) has filed a police complaint following an alleged assault by ‘BJP goons’ on the convoy of party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee during his recent visit to Tripura.
A group of BJP workers tried to stop the convoy at Charilam in the Sipahijala district, raising slogans against Banerjee, police sources said.
As he reached the Tripureshwari temple in Udaipur, a group of BJP workers tried to block his way as they raised “Go back Abhishek” slogans.
the letter, the TMC has written that the party’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was on his way to Tripureswari Temple Udaipur Tripura when he came “under violent attack from certain anti-social elements who had placed themselves on the route”.
His convoy was allegedly gheraoed and attacked with stones and sticks. His personal security officers were reportedly injured in the incident.
