Bandh called by TPF failed to evoke any response

The bandh call given by the TPF had no effect on normal life here on Monday

Tripura People’s Front calls for strike over deaths of jawans in fratricidal firing.

Tripura People’s Front (TPF), a political party seeking a separate state for the tribals of Tripura, has given a call for a state-wide strike on Monday, to protest against the death of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel Subedar Marka Hasin Jamatia and Naik Subedar Kiran Kumar Jamatia in a fratricidal firing incident. The TPF claimed that the law-and-order situation in the state has deteriorated and termed the attack on TSR jawans by fellow rifleman Sukanta Das as an “attack on the Twiprassa Borok people”.

All services, including public transport, banks and commercial establishments, were operating normally.

There was no impact of the bandh in other parts of the state as well.

Protesting the killing of two tribal TSR leaders and deterioration of Law and Order, the TPF called the bandh today.

TPF cadres blocked the Ambasa Rail Road demanding the execution of TSR rifleman Sukanta Das, accused of the killing of two TSR officers. Later, the police of Ambasa police station arrested them and took them away.

The accused- Sukanta Das, a rifleman under 5th-Bn TSR, surrendered at Madhupur police station soon after opening fire at two senior colleagues- Marka Singh Jamatia (Subedar) and Kiran Jamatia (Naib Subedar) from his service rifle.
