BJP sweeps civic by-polls, Victory in municipal by-elections in Tripura

BJP making clean sweep of the civic by-polls with decisive lead in all 67 wards across the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), Municipal Committees

Altogether 158 wards across the state the ruling BJP had won as many as 91 wards without a contest. On the day of polls yesterday the parties contested 67 seats including four in AMC but as results came out yesterday BJP seemed to be making a clean sweep by already winning all four wards of AMC and decisively leading in remaining 63 wards of Municipal Committees and Nagar Panchayats. In all four wards of AMC Congress secured the second position though in the remaining 63 wards honours of second position were shared between Congress and CPI (M),with the latter being placed in better position. The final position on seat tally is expected to be clear by afternoon.
