BJP to retain power in Tripura, will need no help from Tipra Motha: CM

Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday claimed that the BJP will return to power in Tripura and will not need to forge any new alliance.
Addressing a press conference, Saha claimed that the BJP will perform better than what it did in the last elections.

He said, “BJP alone will win with absolute majority in the 60-member Assembly. I do believe that the party will win more seats this time”.

Among the speculation that the Tipra Motha may emerge as the kingmaker, Manik Saha said that the party will need no help from Tipra Motha.

Notably, BJP had won 36 seats in the 2018 Assembly elections, while its ally IPFT bagged 8 seats. The CPIM won 16 seats and the Congress failed to open its account.
Saha said that IPFT can tell how many seats they are expecting to clinch this election among 5 seats.

He asserted that Tripura witnessed a violence- and malpractice-free election for the first time,
Saha said, “People were seen exercising their democratic rights without any trouble”.

He alleged that the Congress and CPIM had tried to create trouble on the polling day, but BJP leaders and workers showed patience and handled the situation peacefully.

When asked if he will be the next chief minister, Saha said that the future will decide, as nobody knows the future.
