CEO inspects postal ballot voting facilitation centre

Tripura’s Chief Electoral Officer, Puneet Agarwal, inspected a postal ballot facilitation center at Shishu Bihar Higher Secondary School in Agartala ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

With Tripura West voting on April 19 and Tripura East on April 26, all necessary arrangements have been made for a smooth and fair poll.

Postal ballot services are available for service voters, including administrative, police personnel, and essential services like the media.

The facilitation service started on Monday and will continue until Wednesday, with essential service employees already casting their votes on Monday, and civil and police personnel scheduled to vote on Tuesday and Wednesday.

While speaking to reporters at the facilitation center, the CEO mentioned that although the Lok Sabha polls were announced on March 16, preparations for free, fair, and peaceful elections began several months ago, particularly from November to December last year.

He added, ,”Sector officers were assigned to conduct vulnerability mapping and check polling stations to ensure that all necessary facilities were available. With the first phase of elections just three days away, all arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth process.”

Of the total 28,60,287 voters in Tripura, 14,63,526 are expected to vote in the first phase when Tripura West goes to polls. Among them, 12,800 poll duty personnel will vote through postal ballots.

According to the ECI schedule, all polling parties will accompany security forces to their respective polling stations on April 18.
Regarding security, Agarwal said, “Tripura has 84 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), currently conducting area dominance and flag marches in various areas. This is aimed at boosting confidence among voters, ensuring they can cast their votes freely and without fear.”
