Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb would inaugurate North East Youth Festival-2016 on November 15 in presence hundreds of participants from eight region’s states.
A colourful rally will be organized to mark the occasion.
A rock band competition will be held on November 16.
On November 17, participants will be taken to Neermahal for Kayaking completion and Chhabimura for tracking, said Sports Minister Manoj Kanti Deb at a press conference today.
On November 18, Marshal Art exhibition will be performed at NRCC while bollywood playback singer Alka Yagnik and Saurabhee will join the concluding ceremony of the region’s mega event at Swami Vivekananda Ground.
On the behalf of the state, Union Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore was invited to remain present on the inaugural function but he would not make it due to his hectic work schedule.
The Sports Ministry has allocated Rs. 3.75 crore to host the regional youth festival. Of the total amount, Rs. 1 crore has been earmarked for materials while Rs. 35 lakh for food and Rs. 50 lakh for publicity. Interestingly, except some big size poster and welcome gates, no major steps were taken for wide publicity.
