Agartala, Friday: Tension gripped the West Jarulbasai Village Committee area on Friday during a door-to-door campaign for the Pekuarjala-Janamejaynagar TTAADC constituency.

The campaign was being conducted in support of candidate Gita Debbarma. According to allegations, workers and supporters of the Tipra Motha were attacked by a group of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters.

However, the BJP countered the allegations, claiming that Tipra Motha workers vandalized the shop of a BJP supporter during the incident.

After receiving information, candidate Gita Debbarma rushed to the spot. Local MLA Manab Debbarma and former Minister Mebar Kumar Jamatia also visited the area to assess the situation.

The incident led to heightened tension in the locality, creating a volatile atmosphere. A large police force has been deployed to the area to maintain law and order and prevent any further escalation.
