CM inaugurates Jan Aushadhi Diwas-2023 programme; says It is necessary to generate public awareness to increase the demand of generic medicines

It is necessary to generate public awareness to increase the demand of generic medicines in the state. The government is fully sound about maintaining the quality of generic medicines and other treatment related machines available at Jan Aushadi centres, enunciated Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha after inaugurating Jan Aushadhi Diwas-2023 programme organised at the Community hall situated nearby Hrishi Arabinda Health & Wellness Centre, Arundhatinagar in Agartala today.

He said, there are 20 Jan Aushadhi centres in the state from which people are reaping benefits of generic medicines available at reasonable prices and different treatment related machines. The Chief Minister said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been relentlessly working for public welfare and to curb their problems. Celebrating Jan Aushadhi Diwas is one of its results. The Chief Minister wished further growth of Hrishi Arabinda Health & Wellness Centre.

He emphasized upon keeping enough stock of medicines and keeping private doctors, nearby medical colleges or medical centre posted about availability of new generic medicines to be transported. The Chief Minister also emphasized upon organising workshops on generating more public awareness on usage of generic medicines.

Secretary of Health & Family Welfare department Dr. Debashish Bose said. Jan Aushadhi Diwas is being celebrated in the state like in other parts of the country. The day will be marked through organising different awareness based programs for a week starting from March 7.

He said, the government prioritises health sector in the state. The government has given special importance to the improvement of health infrastructure. The government’s efforts are continued towards providing advanced health services to economically weak section of people. Corporator of Agartala Municipal Corporation Alok Roy was also present in the programme. Director of Health department Dr. Subhashish Debbarma also spoke on the occasion.
