CM reviewed meeting of Industry and Commerce Department.

Investment in industry is needed to accelerate the economic development of the state. Therefore, more and more entrepreneurs should be encouraged to set up industries in the state.

The state has now created a conducive environment and potential for setting up industries.

The Department of Industry and Commerce needs to be proactive in harnessing this potential.

This was stated by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb at a review meeting of the Industries and Commerce Department at the Secretariat on Friday.

Reviewing various programs of the Department of Industry and Commerce at the meeting, the Chief Minister said that in the development of industry in the state, emphasis should be laid on setting up industries based on various products produced in the state.

In this case, he emphasized on setting up industries based on bamboo, rubber, honey etc. produced in the state.

The Chief Minister asked the concerned department to take necessary steps to make entrepreneurs of Bangladesh interested in industrial investment in the state.

He said there is an opportunity to build a power intensive industry in the state. Besides, industrial units like rubber wood furniture, transformer making units, LED bulbs etc. can be set up in the state.

The development of this industry will improve the economic condition of the state as well as create employment opportunities.

The Chief Minister expressed the view that there would be employment opportunities for the local people of the state.
