Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM) Bishalgarh on Monday imposed section 144 CrPC at Charilam area under the Sepahijala district after a confrontation between the BJP and Congress workers took an ugly turn.

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarman rushed to the spot after hearing the news.
BJP workers left the road after deputy CM called the BJP activists to withdraw the blockade.
The heat of politics is increasing day by day as the 2023 assembly elections are coming closer.
Both opposition parties and the ruling party are throwing allegations against each other.
Congress had a program in Charilam on Monday, which triggered a major conflict between BJP and Congress.
BJP alleged that Congress has organised the program without any approval from Police.
Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, Gopal Roy and many other leaders and activists were present in the program.
Local administration applied a moderate stick charge to control the situation.
Besides, section 144 was also imposed and a massive number of security teams were deployed to control the situation.
Congress workers have gone to the Chief Director of Police to seek solution.
On the other hand, Deputy CM said that the police also cancelled his meeting. He added that senior leaders of Congress could have avoided the issue easily.
The road blockade was finally called off after around 3 and half hours when Jishnu Debbarman urged BJP workers to withdraw their blockade.
