Cooperation plays an important role in the economic development of the state. The role of LAMPS and PACS is very important in rural areas. Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said this at the review meeting of Cooperation Department at Secretariat yesterday.
In the review meeting, the Chief Minister said that the performance of LAMPS and PACS should be increased, Cooperation Department should be more proactive in this work In the review meeting, the Secretary of the Cooperation Department Tapas Roy presented various development programmes undertaken by the department and the work plan in the coming days through a pictorial report. He informed that initiatives have been taken to build at least one Cooperative society in every Gram Panchayat and ADC village of the state In this regard, 90 percent success has already been achieved.
So far 3 thousand 875 Cooperative societies have been formed in the state. These Cooperative societies in rural areas have 8 lakh 71 thousand members. In the review meeting the Secretary informed that as part of the Ease of Doing Business, the Cooperation Department has already launched online registration of Cooperative societies through Single Window SWAAGAT Portal Initiatives have been taken to computerize 212 PACS and 56 LAMPS in the state. 10 crore 48 lakh rupees will be spent for this. This project will be implemented through NABARD. So far 102 LAMPS and PACS have been given Common Service Centre registration in the state.
In the review meeting, the Secretary of Cooperation Department informed that Reserve Bank of India has declared Tripura State Cooperative Bank as a Scheduled Bank. At present this bank has 66 branches in the state. NABARD has recognized. Tripura State Cooperative Bank as the best bank in the North Eastern region for the year 2020-21. In the meeting, the Secretary also informed that the Reserve Bank of India has already approved the opening of 14 more Tripura State Cooperative Bank branches in the state. In the review meeting, works of Gomati Cooperative Milk Producers Union were discussed in detail. The Secretary informed that milk is being procured for Gomati Dairy from 143 Primary Milk Producers Societies in the state. 6 thousand 34 cow herders are associated with this Primary Milk Producers Society. Gomati Dairy has 13 milk parlours in Agartala city
In the review meeting, several programmes of Agartala Cooperative Urban Bank Limited, Tripura MARKFED, Tripura State Cooperative Consumers Federation Limited were discussed in detail.
