Disaster Management Training held at Bokafa RD Block

With the initiative of South Tapura District Disaster Management Authority and Block Advisory Committee an awareness cum training session on Disaster Management at Bokafa RD Block premises was organized on 22 November to train field functionaries to enable them to effectively and efficiently handle natural disasters like earth quake, flood, domestic fire incidents, medical emergencies etc. The officials informed that block and panchayat level disaster management response team will be formed in each panchayat under the Bokafa RD Block for effective disaster management

Senior Deputy Magistrate Sudhangsu Sarkar in the programme said that field functionaries including Panchayat Secretary, members of Gram Panchayat and Village Committee representatives are usually the first people to witness and report such incidents at the local level. And such awareness cum training programme is required to have a basic understanding of first response to such events for effective disaster mitigation. The training programme is being imparted to the participants for effective response to a disaster based on scientific and rational understanding of the event by the District Disaster Management Authority

BAC Chamun, Bokafa RD Block Couni Shankar Reang said that local intervention in case of disasters would reduce the response time and save valuable life and property during such hazankous events. During the training programme, the experts of 9 Bn TSR and officials of Tripura Fire Service have showcased hive demonstrations about various disaster effective responses before the participants on fire incidents, natural disasters etc. unilizing available domestic resources. They also demonstrated usage of advanced gadgets to respond to such calamities.

BDO and officials of Bokafa RD Block. Tehsildar, Rural Programme Manager, GRS, Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Members of Gram Panchayat and Village Committee, and field functionaries from revenue department, fire and emergency personnel were present during the programme.
