Education Minister Ratanlal Nath officially inaugurated the synthetic turf football ground at North Debendra Chandra Nagar High School in Tulabagan, Mohanpur subdivision on Monday.
Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sushanta Chowdhury was present as the chief guest on the occasion.
5 crores have been spent on the construction of the Synthetic Turf Football Field. While speaking at the opening ceremony, Education Minister Ratanlal Nath said that the responsibility of maintenance of this field should be taken by the local people.
He said, “It has been decided to make such fields in tribal areas in the future. The state government has given special importance to the development of sports to keep children physically and mentally healthy”.
He added that the current government is working on a specific plan to build one Tripura, a better Tripura.
The Education Minister expressed hope that new talent will be developed in the future by practicing in this field.
The chief guest of the event, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said “The project of 70 crore rupees for the development of sports infrastructure in the state is being implemented in stages.
A synthetic turf field for playing hockey will be constructed at a cost of Rs 5 crore at Dashrath Deb Stadium, which has already started”.
