“Cooperatives play an important role in the development of rural economy Rural industries should be given priority in co-operatives then only more people will join the cooperative movement.”
Finance Minister Pranjit Singha Roy said this while inaugurating the program organized on the occasion of 70th Akhil Bharat Cooperative Week based in Gomati District at Amarpur New Town Hall on Monday.
In the event, the finance minister said, “The goal of the cooperative department should be to connect people from all parts of the city to the village with the cooperative. Then only the economic development of the people will be possible.”
Gomati Zilla Parishad President Deval Debroy said, “More people need to be involved with cooperatives so that they can become financially independent.”
MLA Ranjit Das called for more people to join the cooperative movement. Amarpur Panchayat Samiti Chairman Monty Debnath Rudrapal, BAS Chairman Ravitra Jamatia, Amarpur Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Vikas Saha, Sub-Divisional Ruler Prashant Badal Negi, Cooperative Department Deputy Director Sanjeeb Bhowmik and others were present in the event.
