Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy inaugurated the National Press Day organized at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan on Thursday.
While inaugurating the program, he said, “The current government is a media and journalist friendly government. Information about various developmental projects of the Central and State Governments cannot reach the common people in remote areas without the journalists.
Journalists should take more responsibility so that the programs undertaken by the state government for the welfare of the people can reach everyone.
The finance minister further said, “Democracy cannot be protected by ignoring the media. The state government believes in media democracy.
He added, “The state government has taken various programs for the welfare of the journalists of the state. For example, increasing the pension of journalists, health insurance, organizing workshops for journalists, revising the advertising policy and increasing the allocation of money in this sector, improving the Agartala press lab, giving more number of working journalists accreditation.”
In this context, the Finance Minister mentioned the second phase of Proti Ghore Sushason in each house launched yesterday.
He said, “The media will highlight whether the various programs taken for the development of the people are reaching the people properly or whether there is a deficiency somewhere.”
On National Press Day, he congratulated and congratulated the press and journalists of the state on behalf of the state government and personally.
