Due to a sharp increase in the cost of locally produced rices over the last two months, the local population, especially poor people become highly concerned.
According to reports, the food department officials, during their regular inspections, have temporarily shut down two rice shops at Maharajganj Bazar in Agartala due to pricing irregularities on Wednesday. The sellers have been prohibited from selling rice until they receive further instructions from the authorities.
Officials stated that over the past 15-20 days, there has been a notable increase in the price of rice in the market. An inspection was carried out under the directive of the Sub-divisional magistrate based on the information.
Officials said that such operations will continue in the future.
