Food Minister inaugurates state consumer disputes redressal commission

The main objective of consumer commission is to make consumers aware. Consumers should be aware of their rights. To make consumers aware, the government has constituted 4 district consumer commissions in West district, Dhalai district, Unkoti district and Gomati district besides one state consumer commission in the state.

The commission has already disposed of 95 percent of cases filed by consumers. Consumer commissions will be formed in the remaining districts soon.

Food Minister Manoj Kanti Dev said this while inaugurating the new office building. It is to be noted that these two buildings have been inaugurated to ensure the protection of consumers’ interests. A total of 4 crore 79 lakh rupees has been spent on the construction of these two buildings. Out of this, the Central Government has borne 2 crore 10 lakhs rupees and the rest has been borne by the Department of Consumer Affairs.

On the occasion, Food Minister Manoj Kanti Dev said that the Food Department has undertaken multifaceted programs to strengthen the public distribution system.

The state government has taken various programs for the overall development of everyone including consumers. One Nation, One Ration Card is the first in the country to be introduced in Tripura.
