An unidentified group of individuals reportedly vandalized a statue of Bimal Sinha, a prominent CPIM leader in Tripura.
The incident occurred in Halhuli village, located on the outskirts of Kamalpur town in the Dhalai district, approximately 90 km away from Agartala.
The incident was brought to the attention of the authorities on Saturday morning.
Upon reaching the site, some local CPIM leaders attributed the incident to “miscreants aiming to undermine the communist ideology within the public.”
They pointed out the presence of beer bottles scattered in the area, which indicates that intoxicated individuals might have been responsible for the act.
CPIM leaders further claimed that there were ongoing efforts to induce alcohol addiction among the youth to hinder their thinking abilities and protest against such incidents.
A senior CPIM leader from Kamalpur said, “A few days ago, the former deputy chief minister Baidyanath Majumder ‘s statue was also vandalized. If these miscreants believe they can weaken our ideology, we will propagate our ideology even more widely.”
