On Thursday, police said that four persons have been arrested for their alleged participation in the clash between BJP and CPIM activists in Charilam at Sipahijala district of Tripura, which happened on Wednesday.
Sahid Miah, a Left supporter who is 70 year old was killed and 20 others were injured in the political clash.
Besides, security personnel were also injured when they tried to stop attacking activists.
Several people have been admitted in GBP hospital in Agartala for treatment.
A police officer said that four supporters from the two parties have been arrested.
The officer said that 3 FIRs have been registered regarding the incident and the remaining culprits will be arrested soon.
Sushanta Chowdhury, the Information and Cultural Affairs Minister said that several BJP workers were seriously injured in the pre-planned and surprise attack by CPI(M)-backed miscreants at Charilam on Wednesday.
He added that he visited GBP Hospital and met injured BJP workers. He said, “Terrorism and violence have no place in the holy land of Tripura. Evil forces are creating such incidents of violence to tarnish the image of the state. The well-informed residents of the state will give a befitting reply to this despicable conspiracy hatched for political gains”.
