Agartala Municipal Council’s 51 newly elected Councillors, Mayors, Deputy Mayor, Mayor-In-Council took their ouths today at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan.
West Tripura Distnet Magistrate & Collector Debapriya Bandhan administered the oath taking of the newly elected AMC members. After the oath taking ceremony, a meeting was held.
Dipak Majumder was elected as the Mayor and Monika Das Dutta was elected us Deputy Mayor without any opposition in the meeting.
Apart from that, Jagdish Das. Sampa Sarkar Sen, Hiralal Debnath, Himani Debbarma, Tushar Kann Bhattacharjee, Bapi Das, Uday Bhaskar Chakraborty and Harisadhan Debnath were elected as Mayor-In-Council.
Secretary of Urban Development department Kiran Gitte administered their oath taking. After the oath taking ceremony, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said, government is working camestly for the overall development of Agartala Municipal areas. The government is also sincere towards providing state-of the-art services in the municipal and urban areas.
The Chief Minister hoped that the newly elected members of Agintala Municipal Council will play a responsible role in providing state-of-the-art services in the municipal area and in making Agartala a smart city.
He said, the municipal area will he benefitted through proper implementation of the development programmes adopted by the government.
The Chief Minister, with due respect to the problems of the people of municipal area, advised the newly elected members to work sincerely to solve the problems. He advised to rise above all boundaries and work for the welfare of the citizens of all sections. He hoped that Agartala Municipal Council would set a benchmark in ensuring improved civic services as a mark of respect to the responsibilites entrusted to it by the people.
Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma in the programime said, only public has the Last say in Democracy. People of Tripura want peace, prosperity and development. The public believes in the policy of Sabka Sath, Sabka Vishwas. There is no financial scurcity and there had been never. There was only lack of good will. Even during the Covid-19 situation, the state government went beyond its means and worked for the welfare of the people of the state Newly elected Mayor Dipak Majumder said, promises made during the election of municipal bodies will be fulfilled. Elected members will work from day one to solve various problems of Agartala Municipal Council with the support of state and central government.
He urged everyone to forget the old work culture and start a new venture for the development of the Municipal Council.
