The government is working to build agar-based commercial hubs in the state.

This agar will pave the way for economic prosperity including generating a large amount of income.

This was stated by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb while addressing a program on agar-based buyers and sellers meeting organized by the Forest Department on Tuesday.

On this day, the cover of Agar Policy 2021 was unveiled by the Chief Minister and other guests. Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goel addressed the event via video conference.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the government is working on the target of a large scale economy centered on agar.

In his tweet he said “Launched the “Tripura Agar Policy 2021″ today. I am thankful to Hon’ble Union Minster Shri Piyush Goyal Ji for attending this event virtually & ensuring us all the support from the central govt. to promote Agarwood trade at the global level”.

He also added “We are committed to work hard and make Agartala the world capital of agarwood products as envisioned by Hon’ble Union Minister Shri. Piyush Goyal Ji in today’s Buyer and Seller Meet on the Agarwood Products”.

He said “Much gratitude to Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji for directing all the concerned central ministries & departments to expedite our agarwood project. It is because of his foresightedness that today we have been able to bring our project to such a big level in such a short time”.

He said ‘Agartala gets its name from Agar tree, therefore it is our duty as well as privilege to promote the consumption of agarwood products on a global level under the able leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji”.
