ICA Minister unveiled 18 book covers on 10 day of Agartala Book Fair

The nation and the society survive on values, thought process, opinion and vision. These can reach upto the people through book fairs, which is why book fair is a fair of thoughts, said Information & Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Choudhury at the book release event of Moumita Publishers at Subodh Debbanna stage on the 10 day of 40th Agartala Book Fair at Haponia International Fair Ground yesterday.

ICA Minister along with other guests unveiled 2 book covers- Narendra Modi, Bhanga gorar Nayak Nabu Bhamter Rupkar written by Dr. R. Balasankar which was translated in Bengali by Smriti Kumar Sarkar and Tripura ke lok sangeet ka vivechanatnak adhyayan’ written by Music Professor of Tripura University Dr. Utpal Biswas. Besides that, 18 different book covers of Moumita Publishers were also unveiled on the same day.

ICA Minister at the event said, the state government has tried its best to make this year’s book fair the best book fair of the Northeast. The max of old and new has made the book fair successful.

He said, the book fair has been brought to city’s extended area instead of limiting at the heart of the city.

The excitement, number of book stalls and buyers have increased this year compared to the past days. Besides, the Hapania International Fair Ground has permanent stall facilities which as a result of which book sellers are not affected by natural disaster. He said, its important to move forward with a positive attitude to do something good and its great example can be this book fair.

This book fait has turned into a fair of mixed ages. He said, book worth 8) lakh rupees were sold on April 2.

This year district-level book fairs have been aminged to make hooks available to every person of the state. The state government will try to conduct sub division level book fair.

He hoped that the books unveiled during the programme will be useful to many. Other guests present were Chairman of Tripura Tea Development Corporation Santosh Saha. Member of State Cultural Advisory Committee Subrata Chakraborty, and Director of ICA department Ratan Biswas. The event was presided over by veteran author Krishnadhan Nath
