IMD predicts heavy rainfall in state

• Fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms are likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic-West Bengal, and Andaman-Nicobar Islands.
• Heavy rains may lash in Odisha, West Bengal, Mizoram, and Tripura.
• Isolated to scattered rain and thunderstorms are likely in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Jharkhand, northern Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.

A press release from Meteorological Centre, Agartala said that Yesterday’s low pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman & Nicobar Islands moved west-northwestwards, concentrated into a depression and lay centered today.

Due to the system, heavy rain is likely in Odisha, West Bengal coast, Mizoram, and Tripura on Thursday and Friday. Although the intensity is expected to weaken on Saturday, scattered to fairly widespread rain may prevail in the region.
