Indigenous spices distribution programme inaugurated; Our government’s efforts towards public welfare is continued says CM

The present state government is public-friendly govemment. Our government’s effort towards public welfare is continued. The state government is not the one to keep issues hanging. Our government believes in finding solutions and resolving issues, enunciated Chief Minister Prof (Dr.) Manik Saha after inaugurating the indigenous spices distribution programme organized by Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs department at Rabindra Bhawan, Agartala today, Packaged spices will be distributed to consumers through Fair Price Shops at a subsidized rate from now onwards.

The Chief Minister said, the state government is routinely working towards public welfare keeping a transparent outlook. It takes every problem as a challenge and works to provide a solution to those problems.

The entrepreneurs now having the opportunity to cater ground spices to the Fair Price Shops of the state through e-tender is the fruit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for “Vocal for Local”. The Chief Minister said, industrial investors from the state and outside the state are now eager to invest in the state as a result of the government’s apt policy and huge improvement in industrial infrastructure and connectivity in the state.

The state’s economy will visibly change once the connectivity opens from Maitri Setu in Sabroom. Tripura shall then become the gateway of South-East Asia, hoped the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister also said, there has been huge improvement in the state in terms of National Highway roads, airways, internet and many more. Tripura is now moving ahead towards becoming ‘Ek Tripura, Shreshtha Tripura. He said. with a view to further strengthening the Public Distribution System, our government has taken the initiative to deliver various essential ration items up to the last man of the society through Fair Price Shops at a subsidized rate.

The Chief Minister said. Fortified Rice is being distributed under Mid-Day Meal and ICDS Project in order to ensure complete nutrition of the public. The state-level distribution of Fortified Rice was started under the project since April 1 this year. Besides, the Bru Reang refugees have been provided with Antyodaya Ration Cards.

Principal Secretary of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs department Ravel Hemendra Kumar said, the department has taken up various initiatives to strengthen Public Distribution System of the state. Tripura has secured 5th position in the entire country and first among special category states in implementing the National Food Safety Act. Selected through e-tendering, M/s Annada Spices Industry will be catering 4 different kinds of ground spices: turmeric, cumin, coriander and red chili powders through the Fair Price Shops of the state. 100 gm Turmeric Powder at Rs. 16, 100 gm Cumin Powder at Rs. 22, 50 gm Coriander Powder at Rs. 13 and 50 gm Red Chili Powder at Rs. 17 will be available at Fair Price Shops. The spices will be available at a lower rate than that of the open markets,
