Indo-Bangla commercial, economic & cultural exchange will be further strengthened: CM

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and the Minister of Commerce, Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh Tipu Mumshi laid the foundation stone for Kamalpur Kummaghat Border Haat in Kamalpur.

The chief minister expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendm Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasinu for their joint efforts in making this initiative possible. He praised the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Mujibar Rehman for starting commercial and cultural exchange between the two countries and praised the present Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for continuing the tradition.

He also congratulated the citizens of both the countries as this friendly relation between two countries will grow further. Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb informed that the state government has already proposed for setting up Border Haat in all cight districts of the state. among which two Border Haats are already functional and permission has been granted for two more Border Haats.

One of these two is Kamalpur-Kurmaghat Border Haat which will start by this year itself. The other one will be set up in Dharmanagar very soon.

This will further strengthen commercial, economic and cultural exchange between India and Bangladesh, the project cost has been estimated 5.30 crore rupees. According to Indian Standard Time on every Tuesday of every week the Haat will be open from 11:00 AM to 2.00 PM. he added.

On the other hand, Minister of Commerce, Goverment of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh H. E. Tipu Munshi said, the opening of Border Haat will not only positively impact the businessmen but most importantly it has opened hearts of both the countries. Along with this, the people residing in remote areas will be benefitted. We want to maintain strong friendly relation with India with new beginning.

Talking about border smuggling, he said that both side of the country will keep watch to prevent such happenings.
