The present government has taken initiative to make the state self-reliant in animal food production. For this, various programmes have been taken under the initiative of Animal Resource Development Department. The programmes undertaken by the Department should be delivered to the actual beneficiaries, Animal Resource Development Department Minister Sudhangshu Das said this in a district-level review meeting of Animal Resource Development Department at Gomati Zilla Parishad Conference Hall yesterday.
In this district-level review meeting, the developmental works of the District Fisheries Office and Scheduled Castes Welfare Department were also reviewed. In the review meeting, the district officials of the concerned departments discussed in detail the progress and action plans of different schemes of the central and state governments and Scheduled Castes Welfare Minister In the meeting.
Animal Resource Development, Fisheries Sudhangshu Das emphasized on the implementation of the schemes undertaken by the Central and State Governments for public welfare in the concerned departments. He said that the government has taken initiatives to make the state self-reliant in fisheries and animal-based food production Fisheries and animal husbandry plays an important role in the economic development of the state.
Therefore, the government has given priority to the overall development of these two sectors. Abandoned water bodies in the district should be brought under fisheries to increase fish production. For this he directed the department to make action plan.
