INPT is planning to move  the supreme court  to press for introduction of National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Tripura

The regional INPT is also planning to move  the supreme court  to press for introduction of National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Tripura in the wake of the final shape being given to it in neighbouring Assam. Sources in INPT said that the party leadership had met senior ministers in central government including the union home minister Rajnath Singh who assured them that the matter could be looked into only after the ongoing process in Assam was over.

Senior INPT leaders including party president Bijay Kumar Hrangkhawal and Jagadish Debbarma had met the veteran Congress leader and former union minister Salman Khurshid to discuss the issue . ‘Salman Khurshid categorically assured the INPT delegation that as and when the issue is legally taken up by the party he will fight the case in supreme court without charging a single farthing as fees ; he also advised them to wait for an opportune moment’ said sources in INPT
