IPFT cancels 12-hrs-strike
IPFT assistant general secretary Mangal Debbarma in a press conference few days ago said IPFT going to organise a strike on Dec 5 their demands also included holding of byelection in village councils under ADC.
In a press conference, party spokesman Mangal Debbarma declared the party’s decision after meeting with Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb early in the day.
“We have decided to postpone December 5 ADC strike following a meeting with the Chief Minister. The bandh will not be observed tomorrow”, he told the media persons at Agartala press club tonight.
Debbarma said they had a meeting with the Chief Minister and discussed some issues related to by-election in Village Committees and speedy implementation of the recommendations of the Modality Committee.
He alleged that State Election Commission (SEC) has not taken any initative to conduct by-poll in over 1,500 village committee seats, which fell vacant following the resignation of the elected members after the BJP-IPFT government came to power in March this year.
On today evening IPFT cancels their 12 hrs strike.
