Major fire accident in Banduar 132 KV Substation, Udaipur
Today at about 4:15 am, major fire accident was reported at Banduar 132 KV Substation near Udaipur in Gomti district. During the fire, one 5MVA 33/11 KV transformer was fully damaged and one 132/33 25 MVA transformer was isolated.
Five cables and 6 current transformers were also damaged.
Due to this accident, power supply was affected in Udaipur, Sabroom towns and areas near Satchand, Bokafa, Killa, Bagma areas.
After technical investigation, it was observed that the fire accident happened due to heavy rain storm and lightening in Maharani area which affected 11 KV feeder and 132 KV Substation as well.
Senior officers of TSECL immediately rushed from Agartala towards Banduar. Director Technical and AGM Transmission reached the accident area early in the morning.
Major Restoration works were launched by replacing the cables and termination of joints. Load was shifted to new 50 MVA transformer recently erected by Power Grid Corporation. As it was major failure, adequate manpower, equipments and materials were mobilised from across the Station to restore the power situation.
Secretary Power Department and Managing Director, TSECL also visited Banduar and restored power supply in Gomti and South Tripura districts by 4:30 pm in the evening.
It may be noted that the State has recorded historical peak power demand of 327 MW on Saptami 12th Oct 2021 compared to previous highest of 310 MW during 2019 Durga Puja before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Secretary Power Department Kiran Gitte said that detail investigation will be made into this incident whether there was any negligence in operation maintenance of the sub station and strict disciplinary action shall be taken after the investigation.
