Addressing a press conference at the state headquarters of Trinamool Congress on Friday, December 23, TMC state president Pijush Kanti Biswas said that Mamata Banerjee is likely to visit Tripura in the first week of January.
Biswas said, “She will offer prayer at the Tripureswari temple during the visit and address a workers’ conference. She will also interact with the press”.
Notably, assembly elections are due in Tripura in February next year. Trinamool Congress chief Banerjee’s visit would fuel the party’s efforts and campaign in Tripura.
Biswas further said that TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee will accompany the West Bengal Chief Minister during her visit.
He added that Mamata Banerjee will not address any public rally during this visit, but she will address public meetings once election campaigns of Trinamool begins.
Biswas said, “A few ministers from West Bengal are also might visit the state in the coming weeks. The party’s high command will depute West Bengal ministers and MLAs for each of the 60 assembly seats for managing the election process”.
