Agartala, January 22, 2022: Once upon a time there in the GBP Hospital prime referral hospital of the state i.e, GBP Hospital; most of the patients had to die after being alleged treated wrong or not getting adequate medical support and critical surgery facilities.
But after 2018, things have changed. Now, it has become a hub of modern medical facilities and critical care setting new records in the state as well as in the North East India. On Friday, AGMC and GBP Hospital has achieved a record breaking landmark in the special medical operations of the state hitherto.
Doctors from Cardio Vascular and Interventional Radiology CTVS & IR) Department of AGMC and GBP Hospital has successfully performed an Open Heart Surgery for the first time on 20th January in the pre-celebration hours of the 50th Statehood Day. Madhavi Rani Das (RS), a girl from Udaipur, was suffering from palpitations and chest pains.
She was diagnosed with heart problems last month at the Hospital. Assessing all her medical and test reports, the Head Consultant Doctor of GBPH CTVS & IR Dept. Dr. Kanak Narayan Bhattacharya has found an atrial defect in her heart.
After consulting with other senior doctors Dr. Bhattacharjee has then decided to go for this very critical operation.
This complex operation is performed over a long period of five hours. Dr. Surjit Pal was the anesthesiologist. Medical Officer Dr. Abhishek Devvarma was along with him. Perfumanist (Heart-Lank Director Sujan Sahu, Physician Assistant Sudipta Mandal, scrub nurse Zahir Hussain, Arpita Sar, Sourav Sheel, Moushumi Debnath, OT Assistant Ratan Mandal, Joydeep Chakraborty, Amrit Murasingh, Coordinator Abhishek Dutta, Richasree Sarkar, Kisan Roy and other health care staffs.
The patient is currently in ICU and her condition is stable. Note that this surgery has been done completely free of cost as it is part of the project.
After the opening of CTVS and IR Department in GBPH it is for the first time that such kind of critical surgery has been conducted successfully also in the very first attempt.
