National Liberation Front of Tripura militant surrenders to BSF

National Liberation Front of Tripura (Biswamohan faction) surrendered before the Border Security Force (BSF) at Ambassa under Dhalai district of Tripura on Saturday.

The militant has been identified as Sachindra Reang (47) of Khantlang village under Vanghmun police station in North Tripura district and was operating from the Segunbagan base camp of the NLFT in Chittagong Hill Tract (CHT) in Bangladesh

To motivate more surrender of militants the government has recently revised the scheme of monthly stipend for returnees and increased it from Rs 3500 to Rs 6000 and a one-time grant from Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 4 lakh.

BSF appreciated and welcomed the returnee for denouncing violence and returning to normal life.
