NDA Presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu to visit Tripura today

Droupadi Murmu, the Presidential candidate of BJP is arriving today as a part of her Presidential campaign.

Assembly Speaker Ratan Chakraborty said that Droupadi Murmu will meet with MPs and MLAs of the state at a hotel to garner support for her candidature.

Tripura has a total of 60 MLAs, 2 Lok Sabha MPs.

The Rajya Sabha MP, Manik Saha, recently resigned from his MP post and yet to take oath as an MLA.

The ruling party BJP has 36 MLAs and its ally, the IPFT has 7 legislators, CPIM has 15 legislators and the Congress has 1 legislator.

Although the MLAs will not be involved directly in the Presidential Election, their support will play a crucial role in the election.

The Presidential election will be held on July 18.

The speaker also said that the government has taken all measures to conduct the election smoothly.

A team of the Parliament Secretariat is scheduled to reach by July 16 or 17 to supervise the election process.
