Convener of BJP-floated platform of non-congress parties, North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said that NEDA will win around 19 to 21 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls in Northeast India.
Eight states of Northeast India have 25 seats.
Sarma while talking to media persons said that in Assam BJP will win 9 to 11 seats. Assam has 14 Lok Sabha seats.
In 2014, NDA has won as many as 11 seats; BJP on its won eight seats, seven in Assam and one in Arunachal Pradesh.
For the 2019 parliamentary polls, BJP has decided to contest 13 seats in Assam leaving one for its ally, Bodoland People’s Front (BPF). BJP will contest the two seats each in Tripura, Meghalaya, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh
BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav will visit Tripura on March 13 to take stock of the party’s preparations for parliamentary election.
Madhav will meet the State BJP core committee to check the party’s preparedness for the elections. He is expected to hold meeting with Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) which is an ally of BJP led government in Tripura.
