NFR officials meet CM Dr. Manik Saha; discussed various issues including development of railway services and infrastructure in Tripura

A delegation led by North-East Frontier Railway General Manager (Operations) Sunil Kumar Jha met Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday at the Chief Minister’s official residence.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister discussed various issues including development of railway services and infrastructure in Tripura with the delegation.

In the discussion, the General Manager of North-East Frontier Railway Mr. Jha said, “The process of converting the state’s single line railways into double line trucks has started.

Necessary steps have been taken to complete preliminary survey work for conversion of 243 km railway from Chandranath in Haflong area to Sabroom in South Tripura via Agartala to double track by June 2024.”

He added, “Agartala-Akhaura Rail Link Project is being completed with great speed to connect Agartala railway station to Kolkata via Gangasagar and Dhaka in Bangladesh. The work of this railway communication will be completed by the month of October of the current financial year.”

Mr. Jha further said, ” General Manager Sreeja assured the Chief Minister that the State Government’s proposal to increase the number of coaches in local demo trains including running additional passenger trains on the Agartala-Dharmanagar route will be considered by the Railway Authority.”
He said that Agartala-Guwahati intercity train services including Agartala-Mumbai, Agartala-Jammu and Agartala-Puri express trains are under consideration by the railway authorities.
