NFR takes several steps for better customer interface Resulting into easier and increased freight transportation and boost to local economy

In order to further improve transportation of freight traffic, Northeast Frontier Railway has been opening new stations for handling inward and outward goods traffic. Few more railway stations have been opened for freight traffic during last month enabling easier transportation of various goods by customers to help local economy.

In order to augment freight revenue, interchange Rail link has been opened for freight service between Haldibari Railway Station in India and Chilahati in Bangladesh; which will capture international traffic.

New Bongaigaon station has been opened also for Iron & Steel consignment (Crane Consignment) for a period of 03 months w.e.f 22.07.2021. New Bongaigaon was earlier opened for both outward & inward goods traffic including outward Coal except POL, Livestock, Explosive, Crane consignment and inward coal.

To boost parcel earnings, trains like- Train No. 05483/84 (Alipurduar junction – Delhi special) and Train No. 02501/02 (Agartala – Anand Vihar Terminal Tejas express special) has been opened for leasing of round trip Parcel Van.
In order to ensure business friendly environment as well as quick turn round of wagons, round the clock working hours has been introduced at Changrabandha Goods terminal.

Now total 26 nos. of Goods handling location has been functional round the clock for loading/unloading in Northeast Frontier Railway. It may be mentioned here that Northeast Frontier Railway has unloaded 989 freight carrying trains in July, 2021 as against 950 in June, 2021 with an increase of 4.10% and unloaded them in different goods sheds in its jurisdiction.

It is worth mentioning that Northeast Frontier Railway carried 7718 rakes of freight trains from January to July, 2021 as against 5846 rakes in corresponding period of previous year which is an improvement of 32.0%.
