On Monday, the Chief of TIPRA Motha Pradyot Kishore Deb Barman announced that he would make no compromise on the demand for Greater Tipraland.
While addressing a rally of Tipra Women Federation at Khumulwng, he said that there is so much pressure on him and even other parties are threatening him.
Pointing at various national parties, Pradyot added that there will be no compromise on the issue of Greater Tipraland.
He said, “We do not trust in your words, give us in writing. If not in writing, don’t try to buy me, don’t give me a lollipop. It’s not just my fight, it’s the fight of 13 lakh indigenous Tripuris”.
Pradyot Kishore also said that it is time for unity of all indigenous people including the IPFT to protect the rights of the indigenous Tripuris.
He said, “If Tipra Motha and IPFT don’t unite, we will get nothing. Our democracy is in danger today”.
Meanwhile, IPFT has not yet responded to the call for unity for the Assembly elections, which is to be conducted next month.
On the other hand, Congress and CPIM are willing to speak with TIPRA Motha and form an alliance to defeat the BJP.
