The assembly election of the state will be held as per the prearranged schedule on February 16.
Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura Kiran Gitte confirmed the news on Friday and said that there will be no change in the election timetable.
A fake news was circulated over the social media that the assembly election will be held on February 27, which created confusion among a few sections of people.
However, the CEO Gitte called for a press conference on Friday evening and clarified that the election date declared on January 18 will not be changed.
He added that he observed that the misinformation about election date has been circulated over the social media.
Gitte further said that there is no change in polls date and it will be conducted on February 16 as decided earlier by the Election Commission.
