“Omicron Is Nowhere In The State”: Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
Where the country is fearing the possible blow and outburst of this new progeny of the COVID, Tripura till now is safe of having no cases of Omicron variant in the state.
On Friday, at the secretariat an important press meet has been held for giving updates on the COVID status in the state where the heads of the health department along with the ICA minister were being present.
The ICA minister, Sushanta Chowdhury on behalf of the cabinet presided over the conference and addressed the common people of the state.
He requested the common people for not panicking about this new variant and follow all the COVID measures strictly.
Taking it not very longer, he shared the data of the new variant spread where he said that total 358 cases of Omicron have been detected till date in the country.
Those who have been detected has an abroad travel history. Moreover, he said that in Tripura, total 33 samples have been tested till date suspecting the trace of this new virus. Where 31 have been found negative and results of the rest 2 is under process.
So, there is no Omicron Variant in the state and there is nothing to panic about it, he said.
He furthermore said that “All these 33 tests have been done in NIPMS which is located in Kalyani, West Bengal. The test procedure which is known as “WGS or Whole Genome Sequencing” is currently not available in the state.
But everyone would be happy to know that our cabinet has taken the decision to soon avail this test lab in our GBP Hospital.
After that we don’t have to send our samples in other states.”
