Distribution of certificate under “One Time Financial Support Scheme” to the eligible ST students for the AY 2020-21: Initiative of Tribal Welfare Department, Govt. of Tripura.
Tribal Welfare Department, Govt. of Tripura has taken up various initiatives for educational development of the ST students of the state. As a part of these initiatives, the department has introduced a new scheme namely One Time Financial Support Scheme for economically weaker meritorious ST students for pursuing different professional and other courses in the Government recognized institutes/College. In this connection, the department has organized a formal ceremony on distribution of certificates to the eligible ST students under One Time Financial Support scheme on 14th December, 2021 at Dasarath Bhawan, Agartala. Shri Mevar Kumar Jamatia, Hon’ble Minister of Tribal Welfare, Fisheries, I & C (HH &S) Departments, Govt. of Tripura graced the programme as Chief Guest has inaugurated the said ceremony on distribution of certificates in presence of Shri Puneet Agarwal, Principal Secretary, Tribal Welfare & Shri Nagendra Debbarma, Director, TRP & PVTG, Govt. of Tripura.
It is to mention that the Government of Tripura has introduced a new scheme “One Time Financial Support for economically weaker meritorious SC, ST, OBC & Minority students for pursuing different professional and other courses in the Government recognized institutes/Colleges”. The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial Support to economically weaker meritorious students belonging to SC, ST, OBC & Minority communities pursuing professional courses having better prospect for employment. Under this scheme, lump sum financial support of Rs. 100000/-(Rupees One lakh) will be provided in 2(two) installment whereas Rs.50000/- to be released as 1st installment immediately after admission and 2nd installment will be paid on production of pass certificates of 1 year course.
Following the scheme, Tribal Welfare Department also invited application through Online Web Portal for the AY 2020-21. To avail this facility, student must be Madhyamik or H.S level passed with at least 50% marks, students who has taken admission in Professional courses having duration not less than 2 years will also avail this facility. Family Annual Income of the students shall not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakhs from all sources. The Department has approved 176 nos. professional courses under this Scheme for Financial Benefits to the eligible ST students. In response to the advertisement of the department, a total of 401 nos. applications were submitted. Out of these, 321 nos. applications have fulfilled the criteria of the Scheme. Out of these, 168 nos. applications are of male candidates and 153 nos. applications are of female candidates. Out of 321 nos. selected ST students, 77 nos. belongs to BPL, 174 nos. belongs to APL, 36 nos. belongs to Ad-Hoc BPL, 14 nos. belongs to Antodaya category and remaining 20 nos. comes under National Food Security Act (NFSA).
