Onion price rise making holes in public’s pocket amid festive season

The enforcement team of the Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate has no control over the increase in onion prices in the market.

A few weeks before the Puja, the concerned team talked to the traders and came to know that they were charging onion at 35 to 40 rupees per kg for the buyers.

However, after a week, before Durga Puja, onion was sold for more than 50 rupees per kg.

Currently, the price of onion is 60-70 rupees per kg in all markets of Agartala.

Sellers have not explained any reason regarding the increased price.
Thus, buyers are again facing significant challenges in this situation.
