Pension to retired Journalists begins

As promised, the BJP-IPFT Govt has started paying pension of Rs 10,000 to retired Journalists of the State.

Shortly after coming to power the BJP-IPFT government took a number of decisions to benefit the journalist community . This is startingly illustrated by the sincere offer of thanks and gratitude to the chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb and the BJP IPFT government for sanctioning monthly pension of Rs 10 thousand which he has received.

In a written statement veteran (retired) journalist Pradip Chakraborty who was a high position holder in largest-circulated local daily ‘Dainik Sambad’,has said that the decision to give pension at the rate of Rs 10 thousand per month to retired journalists had been taken in the month of July but it was not being implemented . At long last on October 29 the government’s instruction to the treasury for payment which reached Chakraborty’s account on November 15 with arrear of entire amounts due.

‘Having worked as a dedicated journalist from 1976 to 2016 this is a big reward for me at this age ; I am grateful to the chief minister and his government for this ; there was a time when the monthly pension was merely Rs 1 thousand and even this was not regular but now an honour and due prestige have been accorded to journalists’ said Pradip Chakraborty who is also a landless and homeless retired journalist.
