Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sushanta Chowdhury visited Panisagar Regional Physical Education College in North Tripura district.
He also inspected the construction work of the college playground, newly constructed hostel, construction of swimming pool and other infrastructural development works.
MLA Binay Bhushan Das, Chairman of Panisagar Panchayat Samiti Sanjay Das, Chairperson of Panisagar Nagar Panchayat Anuradha Das, Joint Director of Sports Department Paimong Mug and others were present during the visit.
During the visit, the Sports Minister inquired about various projects and directed to expedite the unfinished works.
Speaking to reporters after the visit, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that priority has been given to the development of sports infrastructure. Today’s visit is to inspect the infrastructure of the Regional Physical Education College.
Moreover, the construction of a swimming pool here is almost half completed. Construction of a hostel for men has already been completed.
The state government is always taking various initiatives for infrastructural development in the field of sports.
He said that the mentality of playing sports will be awakened in the young men and women. Sports is the only tool that the state government has taken to build a drug free Tripura.
He hoped that it would be possible to build a healthy society by removing the youth from drug addiction.
